How to build a Professional Learning Network

A Professional Learning Network (PLN) is a global support network for educators. Teachers and administrators across the country are building PLNs that give them instant access to thousands of their peers who can answer questions and share ideas—and now a free online course shows educators how they can create their own PLN.

Developed by Torrey Trust, an instructional designer and teaching assistant with the University of California, Santa Barbara, Department of Education, this free e-course includes four modules, covering topics such as PLN basics, ethics and privacy, networking, social media tools, and sustaining a PLN.

“Teachers will learn how to use information aggregation and social media tools to find solutions to classroom challenges,” the site’s goal reads.
